**Hours**:This position functions as 1 HCE (up to a maximum of 230 hours).

**Salary**: CUPE minimum salary rates for a half course (HCE), inclusive of vacation pay, are: Sessional Lecturer 1 - $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer 1 Long Term - $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer 2 - $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer 2 Long Term - $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer 3 - $10,362.76 and Sessional Lecturer 3 Long Term - $10,570.02. Should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail

**Minimum Qualifications**: include at least a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Education, or equivalent with strong written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to content-based instruction to advanced multilingual post-secondary students, experience with curriculum development and language assessment, a demonstrated ability to teach communication and to work as part of a team. Experience in professional language development assessment and teaching.

**Preferred Qualifications**: include a PhD in an appropriate discipline (as above) and familiarity with engineering communication practices. Experience with prior FASE english language diagnostic process and administration is highly desirable.

**Description of duties**: Development and Coordination of English Language Diagnostic for all first-year incoming students
- Work with the Registrar’s Office, First Year Office, and First Year course instructors to develop and choose between several options for an English Language Diagnostic designed to identify students requiring additional language support
- Coordinate and deliver, with support of the parties above, this English Language Diagnostic
- Communicate with First-Year Office, student groups, First Year advisors about supports and screenings, as necessary
- Plan academic orientation activities that involve publicizing professional language support opportunities
- Organize lists of students needing supports for distribution to appropriate instructors in ESP and Praxis, and to second year course instructors
- Other duties as required to ensure that all incoming students have taken their diagnostic, and been properly identified for additional supports
