First Aid Attendant

BCIT’s **Safety Security and Emergency Management Department** is seeking a **regular, full-time (1.0 **FTE**) First Aid Attendant.** This position provides occupational first aid coverage, treats injured patients, maintains and operates first aid rooms and equipment, and performs other related record keeping functions associated with occupational first aid.**Duties & Responsibilities**
**DUTIES** **AND**
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Maintain the first aid room and first aid equipment in a state of readiness in order to respond and treat patients
- Record all visits to the first aid room in the treatment record book and the Simply Safety database in a timely fashion, and ensures all appropriate WCB and insurance forms are completed where appropriate
- Record appropriate injuries into WCB Employer Connect program, and forwards appropriate information to Human Resources and OH&S Advisors as required
- Maintain confidential filing system for treatment records
- Ensure cleanliness and security of first aid room
- Respond to queries regarding WCB Claims
- Complete required documentation for those individuals (students and visitors) not covered by WCB
- Maintain ongoing training in Emergency Response, to provide a working knowledge to the community and respond as required
- Perform a variety of clerical and record keeping functions as assigned and as part of duties associated with occupational first aid
- Provide administrative assistance to OH&S manager as required
- Participate in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP)
- Undertake related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position
**Qualifications**
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Definition**: The qualifications section for this position was developed using the approved job evaluation plan, agreed to between the BCGEU and BCIT. The qualifications represent the minimum qualifications required in the future (i.e. to be reflected in job postings) and do not reflect the incumbent’s existing qualifications.
**Education**:
- Requires the equivalent of full secondary school education plus completion of specialized training courses of up to six months
**License(s)/Certifications(s)**:
- Must possess a valid BC driver’s license, a valid Workplace Hazardous Material Information System Certificate and a valid Workers Compensation Board Level 2 (unrestricted) Occupational First Aid Certificate.
**Experience**:
- Requires two years’ experience plus up to two year’s practical current experience as an occupational first aid attendant
**Software/Computer Application(s) and Expertise**:
**Communication/Interpersonal Skills**:
- Good organizational and communication skills
**Other Skills/Abilities**:
- Must be willing to work shift work

**Salary Range**
- Salary Grade 5: $53,641 - $57,817 per annum.**Additional Salary Information**
