Community Disability Support Worker

**PRIMARY ROLE**
Provide disability support for me, a charismatic person with physical and developmental disability, in my home and community. Be an ally and ambassador committed to fostering growth of my passions, skills, relationships and natural supports.
**DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES**
- facilitate my participation in purposeful community roles; act to minimize risks and maximize inclusion
- demonstrate exceptional patience and listening skills; consistently use clear, age appropriate language
- empower me to create my best life at home and in the community through setting goals and planning the steps needed to reach them
- encourage expansion of my life skills, independence and self advocacy; recognize when you need to advocate on my behalf and bravely do so
- collaborate with my family; discuss any ideas and issues in a prompt, professional manner
- demonstrate leadership, problem solving and time management skills in unstructured environments
- maintain organized and detailed written communication; complete required documentation
- be physically capable of safely assisting with occasional lifts, transfers and personal hygiene
- uphold integrity and confidentiality regarding my life and your work with me
**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- criminal record check complete with a vulnerable sector check
- first aid and CPR certification
- Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol training (can be provided)
- experience with people with both developmental and physical disabilities
- education and experience in Disability Services, Social Work or Human Services (or equivalent) an asset
- ability to adhere to Covid-19 health recommendations
**SCHEDULE**
- daytime availability required: 6 hour shifts, 3 days/week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
- possibly very occasional evening or weekend shifts
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 18 per week
**Salary**: $19.00-$20.97 per hour
