**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Manager of Equity provides comprehensive strategic oversight to the Gallery as it relates to Equity. As part of the department of Indigenous Ways & Equity, they work to develop the workplan & implement and advance equitable solutions. They also work to implement and advance the Gallery’s 5-year strategic plan, and priorities as directed by the Head of Indigenous Ways & Equity. They develop, recommend, and implement plans to raise the visibility of the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq’s events, programming, and trust within the racialized communities in Winnipeg and Manitoba. They build highly fruitful collaborative relationships, keeping focus on institutional strategic goals. They are passionate about equity, decolonization, and anti-racism, and are excited about how to implement these ideas and practices into colonial spaces.

**DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Implementing strategic direction and innovation in the areas of equity and wellbeing;
- Advising the Head of Indigenous Ways & Equity who is the department voice on the executive leadership team;
- Implementation of the organization’s Equity Action Plan
- Developing, overseeing & implementing an accessibility plan for the institution;
- Developing, overseeing & implementing the Safer Spaces plan for the institution;
- Establishment of an equity plan cycle with continuous evaluation and improvement, including quantitative and qualitative data collection and assessment;
- Development of strategic external partnerships with racialized communities, including program development and delivery;
- Review processes, policies and practices on a regular basis and implement bias-reduction strategies;
- Provide support and expertise in equitable decision-making processes;
- Establishment of a mandatory education cycle for all employees and leadership, such cycle to include:

- ○ ongoing and progressive anti-racism, anti-oppression, and cultural competence education with respect to racialized and other marginalized groups;
- ○ ongoing education with respect to accessibility;
- ○ Leading or co-leading the Anti-Racism employee resource group (ERG)
- ○ incorporating education recommended by the Head of Indigenous Ways & Equity into the education plan required for employees and leadership.
- Leading the Employee Resource Group (ERG) for Indigenous and racialized employees with the Head of Indigenous Initiatives, formally called the Anti-Colonial Social Club, Winnipeg Chapter.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities and two to four years related experience.
- Lived experience as an Indigenous and/or racialized person on Turtle Island.
- If Indigenous, belonging to and claimed by an Indigenous Nation.
- Demonstrated work and life experience in developing and leading initiatives and project management.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, organizational, communication, media and grant writing, negotiation, and team-building skills.
