Tradition is hiring a Business Unit Leader (Production Manager) to support our growing operations. This key role is responsible for all planning aspects related to production. including creating production schedules for the production lines, determine appropriate customer delivery dates, while considering factors such as equipment, staff resources and raw material availability. This role also works closely with sales and the cross functional team members to deliver customer trials and projects.
**What you will be doing**:
- Provide leadership for the successful day to day operation by engaging and motivating team members
- Responsible for all management aspects of production staff and warehouse staff and planning elements
- Resolve material and capacity issues to ensure delivery performance on time
- Provide delivery lead times for customer orders and quotes when product is not available from stock
- Plan and communicate daily, weekly and monthly production requirements with operations team to ensure efficient work flow
- Monitors shortages backlog and inventory levels for assigned manufacturing areas to maximize on time delivery performance and minimize inventory investment
- Ensure technical competence of production staff through training where required, and maintain appropriate training records
- Participate in Quality improvement initiatives as required
- Maintain a clean and orderly production environment adhering to requirements of documented company procedures
- Keep company procedures to up
- date as changes occur in processes
- Analyze actual production labour hours against standard labour hours and report discrepancies and trends, as required
- Ensure production environment conforms to all Environment & Safety regulations
- Participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training as required
- All other Duties as required
**What will make you successful**:
- 5+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility.
- Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
- Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement.
- Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
- A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
- Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.
