Food Preparer, Dishwasher and Assistant

We are currently searching for a Full Time Position (Approximately 35 hours per week) food preparer/assistant for our Yonge/York Mills location.

**2 years restaurant or kitchen experience is recommended for this position.**

**Experience in a childcare or related field is a definite asset.**

**Responsibilities and Duties**

Divides and prepares catered lunches and snacks for classrooms using catering direction on food portions.

Follows and maintains daily schedule for food delivery to classrooms.

Follows and is attentive to children’s individual food plans and dietary restrictions.

Maintains inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.

Washes and folds daily soiled laundry.

Keeps accurate documentation required in the kitchen.

Washes dishware and other kitchen items by hand and in the industrial dishwasher.

Maintains and organizes the kitchen.

Aids in disinfecting soiled toys for classrooms.

Able to identify problems and make suggestions/recommendations to resolve them.

Follows directions of Centre Manager.

Communicates effectively in English using both written and verbal communication.

**As an Early Childhood Assistant**:
Helps in the implementation of planned programming for the children using equipment both indoors and outdoors to promote children’s development and creative expression.

Promotes diversity and acceptance of individual differences.

Maintains a safe environment.

Follow classroom routines and transition periods.

Follows cleaning and housekeeping duties. This includes but is not limited to sweeping, mopping and disinfecting.

Promotes the centre's philosophy and communicates issues to parents in a positive, professional and respectful manner.

Keeps accurate records of daily attendance when in the classroom.

Attends mandatory staff meetings.

Ensures the health and safety of each child in their care.

Is alert and aware in constant supervision of the children.

Is empathetic towards the individual realities of the child and has the ability to develop a trusting, caring relationship with all the children.

Follows the requirements set out in The Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA)

Asks and offers support to co-workers when needed.

**Qualifications and Skills**

**Toronto Public health food handlers’ certificate is required for this position.**

**Experience working with children is a definite asset.**

**2 years restaurant, kitchen or childcare experience is recommended for this position.**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $21.49 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
