**Environmental Services Worker**:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Sportsfields & Park Maintenance, the Environmental Services Worker, is responsible to deliver a wide range of services relating to the maintenance of Town facilities, parks, and open space. Includes service delivery of cutting of grass, collection of litter, emptying waste receptacles, assisting with maintenance activities/minor repairs to infrastructure, and trail maintenance. Operating sidewalk machines and equipment/handwork for snow removal to meet winter control objectives including Senior Snow Service delivery.
**Key Duties**:
- Works with Working Foreperson - Parks to deliver annual workplans and meet levels of service relating to the daily grounds maintenance requirements for facilities, parks, and open space.
- Operates turf/maintenance equipment including: mowers, string trimmers, blowers; small loader tractors.
- Performs a variety of maintenance functions during the winter control season such as but not limited to snow clearing, salting of: sidewalks, trails, parking lots, facilities.
- Operates various types of equipment such as tractors, stake trucks, pick-up trucks with or without landscape trailers.
- Collects litter throughout the Town.
- Provides guidance to a crew of seasonal and summer staff.
- Provides exceptional customer service when interacting with Town residents.
- Assists Parks Maintenance Worker, Gardeners and Arborists from time to time with various tasks including chipping brush, mulching beds, raking, shovel granular material.
- Maintains all related equipment including greasing, sharpening and cleaning.
**Qualifications/Skills**:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid ‘G’ drivers license with a clear driver's abstract (“DZ” is considered an asset).
- Two (2) years of demonstrated training and experience related to maintenance of facilities, parks and open spaces including grass cutting, collection of litter, emptying waste receptacles, assisting with maintenance activities/minor repairs to infrastructure, and trail maintenance.
- Two (2) years of demonstrated winter maintenance experience including plowing and salting sidewalks, parking lots and trails.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and able to keep a detailed log book.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of the job including heavy lifting and working in inclement weather for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work overtime and/or shift work as required.
**What is Offered to Staff**:
- ** Rate of Pay**: $30.92 - $33.48 per hour
- ** Hours of Work**: This is a non-union position that works a 40 hour work week. The hours of work are 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and are in accordance with Schedule A of the Collective Agreement. As this position assists with winter control activities, the incumbent is required to be available for winter control standby from November 15th to April 15th each year.
