Advancement Research Analyst-13 Month Contract

Perimeter Institute's **Advancement Research Analyst **is responsible for providing comprehensive research support to Perimeter's Advancement programs with specific focus on transformational gifts. Key responsibilities include gathering, verifying, and analyzing information used to develop connections and affinity with prospective donors and volunteers to advance Perimeter’s mission and campaign priorities. You will create smart effective reports and profiles to inform prospect and donor strategies and will implement a strategic research plan that reflects campaign priorities and pipeline targets. An accurate record keeper, you will help to prepare briefing packages, and perform general research tasks as assigned.
Your experience and donor-centric lens will efficiently evaluate and align the depth, breadth and focus of the research to the purpose of the project or request. Using a variety of resources and methods you will identify, evaluate and communicate relevant information that focuses on indicators of transformational philanthropy, linkages, and affinity. In addition to identifying prospects, as the Advancement Research Analyst you are responsible for the interpretation, analysis and delivery of information pertaining to all major donors cleared for cultivation, solicitation or stewardship by Advancement fundraisers, and coordinate regular meetings with fundraisers to review prospect qualification progress and strategy.
- This is a 13 month contract opportunity working in a flexible, hybrid environment, ideally requiring two days per week at Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, ON. The nature of this contract will provide the successful incumbent with generous extended health care benefits, paid vacation in addition to a base salary range between $72,000 and $78,000 CDN annually commensurate upon individual experience._
**Core Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Prospect Research and Analysis**
- Manage all research processes including prospect analysis during screening processes to determine linkages, affinity and capacity;
- Use a range of resources and methods to gather, verify and communicate relevant information on prospects, including individuals, foundations and corporations;
- Write and edit profiles, briefing notes and other research products on prospects, donors, board members and event attendees for fundraisers, senior staff and volunteers;
- Conduct independent, proactive research to continually grow the prospect donor database;
- Conduct ongoing media/environmental scans to keep abreast of business developments, to gather information on current donors, and to identify new prospect possibilities; update CRM and communicate new information to the Advancement team as appropriate.
**Prospect Management**
- Implement strategies to consistently identify, prioritize and move prospects forward for discovery and qualification and to ensure a prospect pipeline is in place to meet campaign priorities;
- Conduct 1:1 meetings with Advancement staff regarding pipeline moves management and offer support and recommendations regarding the movement of prospects;
- Match prospect interests with the Perimeter Institute’s vision and strategic priorities;
- Record prospect tracking and research cases using CRM software.
**Data Management and Presentation**
- Investigate and analyze complex forms of information for the development of comprehensive reports to support Advancement activities;
- Act as a leader for database integrity and data entry on the team and follow APRA Canada’s ethics and professional standards;
- Conduct analysis of Perimeter Institute’s donor and supporter database to search for potential new higher-value donors, or to support other Advancement activities as required.
**Additional Duties**
- Create an annual research plan with KPIs, track and report on progress each quarter;
- Maintain subscriptions to current research resources, and assist in identifying, evaluating, selecting, and purchasing new vendor services and research resources;
- Maintain membership with the National and International professional associations for Prospect Research: APRA and APRA-Canada;
- Participate in other areas of the Institute such as attending the Interdepartmental meetings and sitting on various committees and project teams within the Institute as desired.
**Required Education, Knowledge and Skills**:
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a relevant field is required. Master’s level degree in a relevant field, particularly Library Sciences or Information Management is preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience within a not-for-profit environment is preferred
- Experience with using CRM software (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge)
- Demonstrated knowledge of research strategies using commercial and public online services which may include but are not limited to: iWave PRO, CharityCAN, INK Research, Imagine Canada, Marquis Who's Who, DowJones, SEDAR, SEDI, BIG Online.
