Detailed Overview:
**Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families**:
The Lead, Indigenous Health (IH) provides leadership, coordination, facilitation and support to targeted Indigenous Health initiatives. As a member of the Aboriginal Health team, the Lead guides discussions in support of the Aboriginal Health program's strategic priorities, leads designated staff, and is accountable for the operational planning and implementation of key initiatives.
**Responsibilities**:
- Liaises with staff, Indigenous communities and external agencies to identify opportunities to support the health and wellness of First Nations, M
- tis and Inuit people in the Fraser Region.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop, coordinate and evaluate programs/services considering Indigenous client needs, service delivery interrelationships and service potential within a complex environment.
- Functions as the point of contact for assigned initiatives. Liaises with internal and external stakeholders and coordinates information flow related to assigned initiatives to ensure timely and responsive updates.
- Develops organization-wide and program specific training tools and resources that support FH's commitment to Indigenous Health and Cultural Safety.
- Develops and implements health programs to improve access and utilization of mainstream and Aboriginal health program managed services within FH. Evaluates effectiveness to ensure identification of health priorities. Makes recommendations that guide the development of programs and services for FH in meeting AH Strategic Plans.
- As part of a multi-disciplinary team, works closely with key internal and external stakeholders to promote education, dialogue and problem solving of health issues affecting Indigenous individuals, families and communities.
- Participates in the development of the designated operating budget. Makes recommendations as appropriate. Provides input into the development of short and long-term plans for the AH infrastructure, acquisition of capital equipment and supplies, and for the expansion of services.
- Analyzes and compiles data. Maintains related databases. Prepares and submits a variety of progress reports reflecting milestones, goals and objectives. Provides updates on activities including key challenges and successes.
- Prepares and submits periodic reports that evaluate the quality of program achievements in alignment with the AH Strategic Plan and FH Performance Plan.
- Keeps informed and current on related issues and trends by participating in professional associations, attending conferences, courses and seminars, and reading related literature.
- Prepares briefing notes, business cases and issue analyses, impact assessments and risk evaluations by gathering facts, analyzing issues, drawing conclusions and making recommendations. Prepares final reports and presentations for use by internal and external clients.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications**:Education and Experience**
Bachelor's degree Indigenous Studies or a relevant health care discipline. A minimum five (5) years recent, related experience in the field of Indigenous Health, plus an extensive understanding and knowledge of Indigenous Health issues, protocols and health needs, including the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the client and community; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
