The Ministry of the Solicitor General facility includes a 100 bed Secure Treatment Unit (STU) to service the needs of incarcerated offenders with mental illness; and the STU has been designated a Schedule 1 facility under the Mental Health Act by the Minister of Health and Long Term Care.

**DUTIES**:

- Provide professional social work and crisis intervention services to seriously mentally ill clients.
- Develop and implement creative treatment and recovery plans, support services and programs responsive to clients’ needs.
- Engage in client-centered care.
- Collaborate with the inter-professional team.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and data collection, in accordance with hospital, college and legislative standards.
- Participate in the development and delivery of educational and information sessions for clients, families, service providers, and the community.
- Participate in Social Work meetings, peer consultation and committees.
- Keep up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing literature, reading articles, attending educational events and networking with colleagues
- To work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the ROHCG.
- To ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Discrimination and Harassment Free workplace policy

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Masters of Social Work degree from an accredited university.
- Three years’ experience in a mental health setting.
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Knowledge, skills and training in concurrent disorders.
- Advanced psycho social assessment and crisis intervention skills would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of a professional social worker.
- Demonstrate ability to work both independently and in a professional inter-disciplinary team environment.
- Conflict resolution skills
- Strong advocacy skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.

**Salary Range**:

- $41.49 to $50.39 per hour**Additional Information**
