# Simulation Specialist
**Company Overview**
**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Director of Data Science and Analytics, we are looking for an intermediate or senior level Simulation Specialist / Developer to join our team. Your work will directly support and enable the development of our cloud-based platform, simulation models and engines, Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) development, and SaaS products. Your role will be involved in simulation modeling, simulation engine development, and integration with AI/ML models with micro service implementation and delivery.
**What you’ll be doing**
As a key member of the research and data science team, you will work with simulation and software developers, data scientists, product managers, and testers towards transitioning simulation models and engines from research PoC development through to product delivery. You love solving business problems by understanding the process behind the data.
The role’s direct responsibilities include:
- Code creation and development using Java and/or Python developing new simulation components to support business requirements.
- Building agent-based simulation models related to industrial and systems analysis within the Mining and Oil and Gas industries. Models focus on throughput, resource optimization, equipment allocation and utilization, system analysis and optimization.
- Development and contribution to simulation library components and services.
- Participate with customer projects, develop, and help deliver proof-of-concept projects involving work in data ingestion, model training, system inference, simulation validation, and data egress.
- Document requirements, designs, and simulation code.
- Participate in the product development process, backlog management, model testing and publishing. Investigate and resolve issues with the core simulation models and engines.
- Work with product and customer teams to refine requirements into actionable simulation tools.
**Requirements**:
To ensure success in the role, you will need the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or formal qualifications from an institute of technology in a STEM related discipline, such as Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science.
- Advanced understanding of simulation and process modeling concepts and techniques.
- Experience and working understanding and usage of machine learning techniques, optimization methods, and applied mathematics.
- Simulation experience within areas of Operations Management, Production Engineering, and Logistics within Mining or Oil and Gas with a focus on throughput and utilization improvements, route and flow optimization preferred.
- Experience with COTS simulation packages, particularly AnyLogic or MATLAB.
**Work Environment/Hours/Location**
This is a full-time position based on a 40-hour work week. We are driven by objectives, however, not timesheets. Stream’s head office is location in Calgary, Alberta with remote workers located across the country in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. We are happy to provide a hybrid work environment, enabling you to work remotely and in office. We encourage a strong collaborative culture and provide workspaces in office for team collaboration, design, planning sessions and social activities.
