Summary: In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care and within the context of a client and family centered model of care, the person promotes a safe, respectful and civil working and learning environment for students, patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.
The Clinical Psychospiritual Education Teaching Supervisor/Spiritual Health Practitioner is accountable to the Director, Spiritual Health & Pastoral Care. Within the framework of a Catholic Healthcare organization and in accordance with the PHC Mission, Vision, Values and Ethical Framework, the CPE Supervisor-Educator/SH Practitioner:
- Contributes to the Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) program as part of the teaching team
- Provides clinical spiritual care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary teams at assigned sites
The Educator/Practitioner works collaboratively under the leadership of the CPE Supervisor
- Educator and will perform equally as the educator and practitioner roles.
This role is responsible for an engaged clinical presence as a practitioner as well as performing CPE responsibilities. The role currently encompasses one extended unit per year, with a focus on long-term care.
Qualifications / Skills and Education: Education, Training and Experience
Master's Degree With relevant theological/spiritual studies from a recognized institution. Current certification as a Teaching Supervisor by (CASC). Five (5) years' experience as a Teaching Supervisor preferred. Current membership in good standing in CASC.

Duties and Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Full-Time Supervisor-Educator:
1.Contributes to the development and implementation of a comprehensive, creative, and forward-thinking CPE program in alignment with the standards set by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC).
2.Obtains program and course approval, as well as site accreditation, as required.
3.Ensures eligibility for academic course credit at the Graduate Program level in collaboration with the Vancouver School of Theology, Regent College, St. Mark's College, seminaries, and other appropriate universities.
4.Collaborates with the CPE Supervisor-Educator and Director of Spiritual Health and Pastoral Care to screen, place, monitor, and evaluate CPE students across PHC sites.
5.Fosters collaboration with CPE Supervisors from other organizations to promote a coordinated approach to pastoral education within the region.
6.Participates as a leader and/or member of the PHC CPE Advisory Board.
7.Educate students in the unique spiritual care needs of residents and their families in long

8.Builds a creative learning environment for students, seeking out speakers, colleagues, and team members for didactics in order to enhance student learning
9.Provides excellent CPE education for basic to advanced CPE students, including didactics, supervision, coaching, planning, and oversight of the program.
10.Encourages excellence in preceptorship of staff members, including education and guidelines.
11.Provides support for ongoing administrative CPE tasks for the program, including interviewing, onboarding, communications, EMR training, Learning Hub maintenance, student manual, policy updating, etc.
