**Volunteer Coordinator**

**Location**: Bereaved Families of Ontario - South Eastern Region (BFOSER)
**Position Type**: Part-Time (Up to 10 hours per week)

**Position Summary**:
BFOSER is seeking a compassionate and organized Volunteer Coordinator to oversee the operations of our Drop-In Centre. This position is a volunteer position. This part-time role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, dependable, and comfortable navigating conversations related to grief and loss. The Volunteer Coordinator will play a key role in creating a welcoming, supportive environment for individuals and families navigating bereavement.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Drop-In Centre Oversight**:

- Open and close the Drop-In Centre as scheduled.
- Ensure the physical space is clean, comfortable, and ready for visitors.
- Maintain a calm, welcoming, and safe atmosphere for grieving individuals.
- **Volunteer Management**:

- Schedule, coordinate, and support a team of drop-in volunteers.
- Provide on-site guidance and act as the primary point of contact for volunteers.
- Ensure volunteers are trained and aligned with the organization’s approach to grief support.
- **Logistics and Preparedness**:

- Prepare the Drop-In Room for weekly sessions (e.g., refreshments, supplies, seating).
- Monitor and maintain inventory of necessary materials and inform leadership of any supply needs.
- **Bereavement Support and Communication**:

- Welcome visitors with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Provide compassionate support and appropriate referrals as needed.
- Model respectful communication and active listening in all interactions related to grief and bereavement.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience in volunteer coordination or group facilitation (preferably in a nonprofit or bereavement setting).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfort and familiarity with topics of grief, loss, and emotional support
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centered practices is an asset.

**Work Conditions**:

- Part-time, flexible schedule (up to 10 hours per week).
- In-person presence required at the Drop-In Centre in the South Eastern Ontario region.
- Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required based on volunteer schedules.
- This position is a volunteer position.
