Civil Equipment Operator

**Matcon Underground Utilities Ltd** is one of the Lower Mainland's leading and most highly respected construction companies. The position entails operating equipment (i.e. Excavator, Backhoe) for trench excavation on a civil construction crew at various sites around the Lower Mainland.

Heavy Equipment Operator Responsibilities include:

- Completing all tasks safely,
- Accurately and efficiently cutting lines and grades for the installation of sewer, water, and conduit mainlines and services,
- Lifting and setting pipe and precast concrete,
- Backfilling and hoe packing,
- Curb & sidewalk prep,
- Bulk excavation and truck loading,
- Coordinating with the Foreman, Grademan, and Pipelayer,
- Shoveling tracks as required.
- Complete understanding of typical industry-standard safe working procedures, especially around trenches and heavy equipment,
- Someone who thrives being in a production-driven environment while staying friendly, professional, and a clear communicator,
- Excellent efficiency and accuracy,
- Attention to detail and desire to provide high-quality workmanship, right the first time,
- Problem solver, who can use initiative to carry on with the next task without instruction,
- At least 3 years experience on a sewer/water excavator or backhoe operator. This is mandatory.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $29.75-$42.06 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 72 per week
