Infection Prevention Control

The Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) ensures there is an infection prevention and control program implemented in the care communities (LTC) that promotes the safety of residents and staff.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensures staff are following IPAC processes
- Works with Public Health to manage outbreaks
- Educates staff on all IPAC practices
- Facilitates orientation for all new hires on IPAC processes
- Ensures a screening program is in place for residents and staff
- Completes reporting and evaluations of IPAC
- Runs scheduled audits on hand hygiene, PPE, cleaning etc.
- Organizes flu and immunization clinics
- Works closely with the nursing team and the physicians on management of residents and staff pertaining to infection.
**Qualifications**
- A Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse
- University degree in related discipline (e.g. nursing, laboratory, epidemiology etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in infection control is preferred
- Previous experience in long-term care or health care sector
- Infection Prevention & Control (a-IPC) and/or Certification in Infection Control (CIC) an asset
- Knowledge of the Long Term Care Act & Regulations is preferred
