**Assistant Baker: French Pastry & Artisan Bread Support**
**Location**: 125 W 2nd Ave, Qualicum Beach
**Schedule**: Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
**Overview**
As our Assistant Baker, you will play an essential role in supporting our kitchen and ensuring every pastry, bread, and baked good meets our high standards. Working side by side with our Lead French Baker, you will help prepare doughs, assist with production, maintain cleanliness, and learn authentic French baking techniques. **What You’ll Do**
- Assist in preparing doughs, batters, and fillings for croissants, sourdough, baguettes, brioche, and other French pastries
- Support baking processes including proofing, shaping, and finishing products
- Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation under the guidance of the Lead French Baker
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment
- Assist with ingredient preparation and inventory rotation
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Contribute to testing new recipes and bakery offerings
**What You Bring**
- Previous experience as a baker, pastry cook, or kitchen assistant (French baking experience is an asset but not required)
- Willingness to learn artisan techniques such as dough fermentation and lamination
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work early mornings and follow directions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Food handler’s certification (preferred, or willingness to obtain)
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- A collaborative spirit, creativity, and passion for baking

- Tuesday to Saturday
- 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
- Full-time role
