Instrumentation Turnaround Planner

As an Instrumentation Turnaround Planner you will manage and maintain planning activities, provide direction and alignment to resource plans, and mitigate risks to ensure Turnaround schedules and timelines are met. Your goal will be to act as a planner, providing an opportunity to coach and mentor junior Planners through collaborative efforts to execute planning and scheduling activities.

Your Responsibilities:
Support planning effort with other Planners, Schedulers and Field Coordinators to enter resource loaded tasks into our scheduling tool and optimize logic and resources through a resource leveling and critical path method analysis
Monitor and validate that all schedules are accepted by the execution teams, that they reflect the agreed upon durations and make any necessary adjustments
Collaborate with all TA support teams to develop detailed plans of high quality
Coach and mentor junior Planners to aid in their development and further their understanding as a planner
Support the development of analytics with the planning team as required by management or project controls team and identify, plan, and implement improvement opportunities
Manage and maintain a discipline specific workload independently and support junior planners with their workloads
Trade Specific Requirements:
Possess a thorough understanding of the function, repair, and service requirements of control valves
Support the planning of SIS testing and implementation
Understand metallurgical requirements and limitations of equipment and assets
Provide accurate estimates to trade specific tasks like instrument calibration, commissioning, and testing
Ensure engineering and area owners are made aware of obsolete instruments by working with suppliers and OEM
Develop strong connections with procurement and suppliers to ensure critical and long lead assets and material are identified and focused on
Review and assist with the development of Projects and Engineering Upgrades

Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint for reporting and presentation on work progress
Solutions oriented; able to work under pressure with multiple, concurrent tasks and changing priorities
Strong analytical skills to identify any gaps or risks in turnaround plans
Able to understand overall business goals and communicate those to the team
Strong relationship building skills to work with cross-functional teams
Your Experience:
10+ years' experience with 5+ years working in an Industrial Environment. Post-secondary education or equivalent with practical experience
Knowledge and understanding of technical drawings and specifications
Experience as any building trades journeyman, refinery operations or supervision in an industrial environment
Experience estimating durations of work
Experience planning or reviewing Primavera P6 schedules
Education: Red Seal Journeyperson is an asset
