What You Would Do in This RoleThe Process Engineer-In-Training completes practical training in various phases of project-based engineering work. The Process Engineer-In-Training supports the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Duties include:
Assisting in the development of process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unitAssisting in the preparation of design specifications, computations and drawings Assisting in the design of component parts and individual unitsReviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirementsUsing Vista Quality Management System (QMS)Developing process simulations and stream tables Developing PFD & P&IDs Preparing process studies and design documentation Performing equipment sizing, line sizing and pipeline hydraulic calculationsDeveloping instrument process specifications and sizing of in-line devices Performing other duties as requestedRequirementsZero to five years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industryBachelor's or Master's Degree in engineering or applied science, Chemical Engineering preferredAbility to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnelRegistered as an EIT with APEGAProficiency with Microsoft Word and ExcelGood working knowledge of simulation software such as HYSYS and/or UnisimStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detailSelf-motivated and efficient with time management Awareness of applicable codes and industry standardsAbility to meet safety requirements to attend site visitsPreferredSome experience in an EIT capacity, ideally in the energy industrySome exposure to oil and gas industryWhy People Like Working with UsWorking with Vista is a chance to contribute to the type of challenging municipal and industrial projects that the world requires.
