Joining Arup Arup’s purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.  We are seeking a SubstationProtection & Control Design Engineer with technical experience in the design of HV substations for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers. In this role you will support the delivery of substation detailed design projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for electric utilities, contractors and developers. You will be the technical interface with clients and internal team members. The opportunity:Perform the engineering design, technical strategy, and delivery of HV and EHV substation projects for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers.Prepare substation P&C design packages including: single‐line diagrams, protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, control house specification, cable schedules, and bills of materials to quality, time and budget requirements.Perform substation studies and calculations including: AC auxiliary system sizing, battery sizing and voltage drop.Provide construction support and inter-disciplinary coordination.At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.The skillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.Proven 4+ years experience in 15kV through 345kV P&C utility substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.Experience with IEC61850 design is preferred.Experience performing P&C design in AutoCAD Electrical is preferred.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.Excellent communication skills — able to interact with clients, regulatory bodies, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Toronto Hiring Range – Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $94,500 to $115,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
