As a key member of our summer travel team, you’ll be responsible for leading our waterfront training and activities for swimming, boating and fishing. Start Date: June 22, 2026 End Date: September 4, 2026 Rate: $ 20/hr/ 40 hours a week  Seasonal full-time position Location: Hybrid Position with Remote Work and travel across Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta. Work schedule may include weekdays and weekends/holidays as needed to support camp programs, events and other camp activities. Travel throughout the summer is a requirement. Room, board and travel expenses are covered during travel to camp. Nature & Scope Camp Quality Canada supports children and families affected by cancer through camp programs. The Aquatics Specialist supervises and supports the on-site lifeguards and oversees swimming pool/waterfronts, including boating and fishing; ensuring safety is the top priority. This role involves remote and in-person work. They will lead our in-service training for volunteers. The position directly reports to the Summer Program Coordinator, with mentorship and supervision by the Sr. Coordinator of Programs and Sr. Director of Operations and Strategy Room, board and travel expenses are covered during travel to camp. Responsibilities  Remote Office Support with waterfront and pool inventory Review emergency procedures and training Complete workplace Health & Safety requirements Support with onboarding seasonal lifeguards Assist in coordinating and planning of Camp Quality’s aquatics activities including recreational swimming, boating and fishing Ensure all volunteer lifeguard certifications are on file and copies are available at camp. Attend 1 in-person volunteer training Summer Camp Work collaboratively with the regional Camp Organizing Committee. Assist in coordinating and planning of Camp Quality’s aquatics activities including recreational swimming, boating and fishing. Oversee the on-site training of lifeguarding and emergency protocols (water). Oversee the day-to-day operations of the aquatics programs including: Scheduling rotation of lifeguards Ensure swim/buddy checks are completed on a regular basis Ensure all rescue, emergency and first aid equipment is in good working order. Provide recognition and feedback throughout the day to volunteers. Remain vigilant and respond quickly to rescues and emergency situations. Ensure all participants complete a swim test and that documentation is filed appropriately. Ensure that all aquatics policies and procedures and Camp Quality’s risk management standards are met at all times by all participants. Provide high quality care that meets the standards of Camp Quality and the Camping Associations in each province and the Children’s Oncology Camping Association. Understand, participate in and adhere to the Camp Quality Canada policies, procedures and training. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications  Minimum of 2 years’ experience delivering aquatics programs. Lifeguarding experience in an outdoor setting. National Lifeguard-Pool (minimum) or National Lifeguard- Waterfront (asset). Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications. Other Recognized Swim Instructor Qualifications including: National Lifeguard or Examiner (Red Cross, LSS) considered an asset. Pleasure Craft Operator Card (Boating Licence) or willingness to obtain. Paddle Canada or ORCKA considered an asset. Experience working with youth in a recreation setting. Previous involvement in recreational programs or activities focused on supporting children with disabilities, behavioural and psychosocial needs. Energy, enthusiasm and flexibility. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to manage multiple work tasks. Administrative and organizational skills. Role model for children and youth. A clear and current criminal record check – vulnerable sector screening issued for Camp Quality Canada. (CRC-VSS). Flexibility with working days, evenings and weekends.
