Your Opportunity:Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your Social Work practice while contributing to innovative models of care in a high-acuity Emergency Department environment? The Royal Alexandra Hospital is seeking a Social Worker II to join our Emergency Department team.This position offers a unique opportunity to practice Social Work at the front end of Emergency Department care, supporting patients earlier in their ED journey and working proactively with interdisciplinary partners to enhance patient flow, safety, and access to appropriate supports. The successful candidate will work closely with nursing, physicians, Transition Coordinators, and community partners to identify psychosocial needs, facilitate timely interventions, and support connection to community-based services where appropriate. The Royal Alexandra Hospital is a tertiary, state-of-the-art facility serving patients from Edmonton and across Northern Alberta. You will join a progressive Allied Health team that includes Social Workers, Social Work Assistants, Housing Support Workers, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and others who collaborate continuously to deliver patient- and family-centred care across the continuum. This role is well suited to a Social Worker who is proactive, adaptable, and interested in contributing to the ongoing evolution of Social Work practice in the Emergency Department, including expanded coverage and a 24/7 service model. Shift length is hours. Shift pattern includes Days and Nights, based on a 4-week rotation.Description: As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities. Required Qualifications: Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Experience working as a Social Worker in an Emergency Department within an urban setting. Knowledge of Edmonton-area community resources, referral pathways, and interagency collaboration.
