We are currently looking for Dance Instructors to lead programs for adults, youth and children in a variety of dance forms. If you have experience teaching and practicing any of the following: ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, ballroom, contemporary, preschool creative dance or you would like to propose another dance form, please connect with us through this application process. Please note that we are hiring dance instructors and not dance businesses. ABOUT YOUYou are a team player committed to community. You will plan and instruct developmentally appropriate dance classes, and prepare your own music and choreography. Classes will include warm up, skill development and dance routines. You will be working in a creative environment utilizing your leadership and people skills while maintaining a safe environment to engage students to expand their interest in dance. You are an excellent communicator with a positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude. SKILLS REQUIRED: In-depth knowledge of dance techniques and forms Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong organizational and supervisory skills Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans Ability to build a rapport with students, parents of students, and staff Some knowledge of community recreation principles and practices Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Candidates must have experience in their chosen dance form and 1 year teaching experience. All instructors working with children must have a current Emergency First Aid certificate and HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (available online through BCRPA).All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. North Vancouver Recreation & Culture is proud of the quality programs they offer and the fun atmosphere staff enjoy while working with children, youth and adults of all abilities The pay for this casual position ranges between $27.72 - $38.38 per hour, based on education and experience, plus 4% vacation pay. Hours may vary and instructors should be prepared to work days, evenings and/or weekends at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
