The successful candidate will demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision and values of the Kamloops YMCA-YWCA. This is a part-time position—weekends and evenings required.Major Responsibilities:Performing on-deck lifeguard duties and teaching lessonsInstructing advanced level aquatic instructor and lifeguarding pro-grams, acting as a mentor for staff, ensuring established safety and customer service standards are metCommunicating effectively with staff (aquatic, administration, maintenance) and public fostering a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility.Providing input, organization and supervising special eventsParticipating in the planning and promoting of aquatic programsAnswering inquiries and handling complaints of participantsEstablishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contactsParticipating in the selection process for part-time staffMaintaining program inventory (report cards, first aid log sheets, etc), pool equipment inventory, and first aid supply inventory.Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to co-workers, supervisors, Y staff, and Y members.Performing related duties as assignedQualifications-you bring:Current Standard First Aid certificate (valid within 3 years)CPR level C and & AED certificate (valid within 1 year)National Lifeguard - Pool OptionSwim Instructor certification or equivalentTwo years relevant experienceYMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalent – preferredLifesaving Instructor (LSI) or equivalentAquatic related certifications from a recognized certifying body (LSS, Red Cross, BCRPA, etc.) - preferredEducation: Grade 12 completedAccess to reliable transportation or a vehicle Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date 3 professional referencesAbout YMCA BC:By igniting belonging and championing health equity, YMCA BC strengthens the foundations of community.
