The focus areas are Manufacturing, Technical Expertise & Support (TES), Environmental, Health, & Safety Operations (EH&S), and Emergency Services, & Security (ES&S). ABOUT YOU: Your job will include a broad range of responsibilities in a variety of different work settings such as chemical plant safety and environmental performance, process operation, optimization, modification, maintenance, and technology implementation. Engineers must use sound technical judgment to enable safe and efficient plant operations. ABOUT THE JOB: You’ll work either a 4, 8, 12 or 16-month consecutive period provided your performance is satisfactory. Additional works terms beyond the initial period is contingent upon your end of term evaluation, slot availability and school requirements. Assignment locations include opportunities at: Alberta - Prentiss (near Red Deer) and Fort Saskatchewan (near Edmonton)Current Co-op positions available at Dow include: Chemical/Petroleum Engineer (Key Roles: Production, Process, Process Automation, Project Controls, or Improvement Engineer) You will fill one of several technical resource roles where you will provide technical support to plant operating personnel in order to maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities may include such items as manufacturing process troubleshooting and problem solving, preventive maintenance, yield and process improvements, waste reduction, safety enhancements, process control, cost optimization, project management and implementation, equipment design, and new technology implementation. Mechanical Engineer (Key Roles: Production, Hardware Design, Maintenance/Reliability, Project Controls, or Improvement Engineer) You will fill one of several technical resource roles where you will provide technical support to plant operating personnel in order to maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities may include providing technical expertise in areas such as maintenance & reliability as well as production operations and project engineering. Responsibilities may range from chemical plant operations, process improvements, predictive maintenance, failure analysis, and vessel & Piping design to manufacturing process troubleshooting and problem solving, preventive maintenance, yield and process improvements, waste reduction, safety enhancements, process control, cost optimization, project management and implementation, equipment design, and new technology implementation. Electrical Engineer (Key Roles: Production, Hardware Design, Maintenance/Reliability, Project Controls, or Improvement Engineer) You will fill one of several technical resource roles where you will provide technical support to plant operating personnel in order to maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities may include providing technical expertise in areas such as maintenance & reliability as well as power plant production operations and project engineering. Responsibilities may range from power plant operations, process improvements, predictive maintenance, failure analysis, and MCC/Transformer/Switchgear design to electrical instrumentation troubleshooting and problem solving, preventive maintenance, process improvements, safety enhancements, motor control, cost optimization, project management and implementation, equipment design, and new technology implementation. Required Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental/Civil or Material Science/Metallurgical Engineering. A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada without Company Sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Prefer students that have completed their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of academic studies. Active participation and leadership in extracurricular activities and on-campus organizations. A preferred GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent on a 100% scale at your current Canadian based university. Excellent written and oral communication skills Outstanding work ethic and leadership potential Previous co-op experience is a plus Enrolled in a “Engineers Canada” accredited program Contingencies: Reliable attendance is an expectation of every Dow employee.
