Senior Civil Engineer- Conveyance

We offer an opportunity to be part of a growing and dynamic employee-owned company, in a professional working environment that is quality-driven and client-focused.In the problem solving business, it helps to be restlessly curious to deliver community change.Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:Working closely with Business Lead and Managers, Project Directors with a focus on civil design for linear infrastructureCoordinating all aspects of the civil design including being responsible for the designDeveloping or verifying the technical scope of a projectCompleting civil designs following the budget and scheduleParticipating in design coordination meetings and address critical issuesWorking closely with the engineering group to facilitate decision making related to the civil design,Ensuring the client’s requirements including specifications and standards are integrated into the projectEnsuring quality controls processes are being followedMentoring and develop junior staffRepresenting GHD at Client meetings when requiredResponsibilitiesEngineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.Engineering Standards Specification: Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.Project Management: Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.Process Design Engineering: Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.Product and Solution Development: Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.Knowledge Management System: Work within established knowledge management systems to deliver preset outcomes for an area of responsibility.Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, criteria along with the application of sound professional judgment. The ideal candidate will have a track record of design delivery for, multi discipline projects specifically, complex civil and facility projectsWhat you will bring to the team:Bachelor’s ( degree in civil engineering from a recognized college or universityA Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.Minimum of 10 years' of extensive technical design experienceDemonstrable experience in civil design delivery for larger, multi discipline projects with a focus on linear infrastructureExperience working in a Design Build environmentDetailed understanding of local Agency (or equivalent) Codes and Standards is considered essentialExperience working in an integrated 3D environmentTeam building and mentoring skills
