Job Description The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking physicians with special training or competence in addictions management/treatment to provide services to the Virtual Access to Addictions Medicine (VAAM) Clinic. The VAAM Clinic, based in Regina, offers physicians the flexibility to work remotely while delivering comprehensive addictions medicine to individuals seeking substance use treatment. Care is provided in alignment with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) Guidelines, Policies, and Bylaws governing virtual prescribing. A collaborative, team-based model anchors the clinic’s approach, integrating prescribers, nurses, addiction counsellors, and administrative staff. This multidisciplinary team supports patients not only in their recovery journey but also in navigating connections to broader mental health, addictions, and general health services as needed. The clinic is deeply committed to culturally responsive care, acknowledging the lasting impacts of colonization and guided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. The SHA is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training and a number of distributed training sites in Regina and Saskatoon. Job Qualifications Certification from the or from the Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Health Authority Met the requirements set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan to provide Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT). Have or be willing to work towards Certification in Addiction Medicine from a recognized organization (Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine, International Society of Addiction Medicine, College of Family Physicians of Canada, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada). This individual must be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care. In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. The start date for this position is immediate.
