Description Scope:The Intermediate or Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, coding, testing, and integrating software components within custom-engineered systems.Key Responsibilities:Software component level and detailed design utilizing Unified Modelling Language (UML)Software implementation and unit testingSoftware integration, verification, and defect resolutionContributing to software design, test, maintenance, and release documentationContributing to a team effort within an Agile development environmentSupport the Software and System testing groups as required to conduct software and system integration testingRequired Skills/Experience (Intermediate Developer):Degree level (or equivalent) in a related engineering discipline such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering4 – 7 years of C++ and/or Java experienceSelf-motivated, adaptable to change, proactive, diligent, and inter-personal skillsKnowledge of Software Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes, and tools, specifically the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)Experience with Linux operating systems and comfortable working on the command lineRequired Skills/Experience (Senior Developer):7+ years of C++ and\or Java experienceAs above for an Intermediate developerExperience providing mentorship and limited technical oversight of more junior team membersDesired SkillsExperience working on customized software solutions for government organizations (any level)Good understanding of software configuration and build managementA good working understanding of Microsoft office applications: Word and ExcelExperience using software development and continuous integration tools (CI/CD) such as, but not limited to: Jira, Azure Devops, Jenkins, static code analysis toolsWish List SkillsSonar domain knowledge or similar signal processing intensive applicationsExperience working with hardware and software emulators to conduct integration testingDirect experience creating automated build pipelines in tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevopsAdditional RequirementsThe Candidate must be capable of acquiring a Canadian / NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the companyWhat does Ultra Maritime - Canada offer?Ultra Maritime – Canada offers a competitive wage and vacation package along with medical, vision and dental benefits.  Additionally, we offer the following benefits for all employees:9-day fortnight, condense your two-week schedule from 10 days to 9 days and receive every other Friday offUp to 5% RRSP matching after 3 monthsFlexible work from home policies or the option to work on-siteBonus scheme available to all employeesPurchase up to one week of additional vacation every yearDiverse & Inclusive Employer Ultra Maritime is an equal opportunities employer that values diversity, inclusion, equity and equality.
