 NORWEST CO-OP COMMUNITY HEALTH JOB POSTINGIndigenous Outreach Social Worker1.0 EFT, Term Position  POSITION: Indigenous Outreach Social WorkerPROGRAM: Primary CareEFT: 1.0 (full-time)RESPONSIBLE TO: Chronic Disease CoordinatorSTATUS: One-Year Term (Covering Maternity Leave of Absence) SALARY: $40.5 - $52.9 per hourUNION: MAHCPAnticipated Start and End Date: January 2026 – December 2026     POSITION SUMMARY:The Indigenous Outreach Social Worker will work together with an interdisciplinary team and community partners to offer the best quality service to the residents of Inkster.  The Indigenous Outreach Social Worker will actively encourage community and client engagement through a diverse range of client care initiatives.  Working closely with other NorWest programs, the Indigenous Outreach Social Worker will support community resource centre initiatives and provide community programming, group facilitation and client advocacy, as well as being a source for culturally appropriate resources. The Indigenous Outreach Social Worker will provide counselling to Inkster community residents ages 12 and up, through referrals from agencies and those self-referred. The Indigenous Outreach Social Worker will support other NorWest Initiatives such as Community Resource Triage, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and other programs as needed  EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in social work and registered and in good standing with the Manitoba College of Social WorkersA combination of education and experience may be considered QUALIFICATIONS:3-4 years counselling experienceMinimum 1-year experience working with community development and community educationKnowledge of community resources and community development principles and practicesStrong communication and problem-solving skillsSkills in leadership development and group facilitationEmpathetic, non-judgmental approachAbility to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settingsKnowledge and experience with diverse cultures and economic backgroundsKnowledge and experience working with Indigenous populations and knowledge of culturally appropriate resources is considered an assetAbility to speak an Indigenous language is considered an assetConnections/networking with Indigenous community (ex. access to elders) is considered an assetExperience with traditional indigenous cultural ceremonies is considered an assetAbility to lead/instruct traditional Indigenous cultural practices is considered an assetAbility to work some evenings and or SaturdaysAccess to a vehicle and valid driver’s licenseChild Abuse Registry and Criminal Records Check required  We encourage applicants to self-identify as Indigenous.   Submit applications in confidence to:Rupsi ParajuliHR Assistantrparajuli@norwestcoop.caNorWest Co-op Community Health785 Keewatin Street, Winnipeg, MBwww.norwestcoop.caApplication Closing Date: January 20, 2026 We thank everyone who expressed interest but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
