You will work within either the In Situ Applications Conformance team or the Subsurface Oil and Gas Geology and Hydrogeology team, supporting regulatory oversight for groundwater and other geoscience areas within these sectors. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of resource recovery projects in Alberta, including their operations, impact management, geological and hydrogeological settings, successes and challenges, and efforts to meet regulatory requirements. The Regulatory Applications Branch consists of geoscientists, engineers, and environmental science experts who collaborate to manage the regulatory lifecycle of oil, gas, and coal developments. Identify additional commitments outlined in regulatory applications and monitoring plans, documenting details, timelines, and frequencies of these commitments. Compile and evaluate key technical information within regulatory submissions. Assist with desktop surveillance activities and approval maintenance, including supporting risk-based prioritization of groundwater surveillance, enhancing application assessment criteria, and conducting technical audits of select submissions. Visualize and present information collected through surveillance programs to support analysis and decision-making. What we’re looking for in you: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Geoscience, Hydrogeology, or a related field. Familiarity with the stratigraphy of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin is an asset. Familiarity with hydrogeology is considered an asset.
