About the Position Reporting to the Supervisor of Parks and Forestry, the Casual Labourer assists with the upkeep and maintenance of City owned buildings, parks, parkettes, playing fields and equipment.This is a seasonal position for 2026 offering up to 40 hours per week with an anticipated start date in late April. Multiple positions available to cover days, evenings, and weekends. Please indicate your availability in your cover letter. Duties & Responsibilities The duties listed are not meant to provide a description of each and every job performed but only those which represent the core functions of the job.- Perform various maintenance duties including grass cutting, weeding, digging, cleaning, painting, event set-up/takedown, garbage pick-up, etc. - Operate various lawnmowers, grass trimmers, brush cutters, tractors and attachments for all seasonal parks operations as required. - Keep all assigned equipment in good condition and ensure that all fuel and oil levels are maintained at an acceptable level. - Perform various types of heavy labour, in all weather conditions, for extended periods.- Operate hand tools including rakes, shovels, saws, loppers, secateurs, etc.- All other duties as assigned. What you need to Succeed... - Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.- Two (2) years’ experience in construction, landscape, or facility maintenance.- Valid Class “G” driver’s license, with clean driving record is required. Class “DZ” driver’s license is considered an asset. - Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and the general public. - Ability to work as part of a team, and with limited supervision.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
