DUTIES

Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director will oversee and manage all aspects of the Hibernia and Hebron portfolio of research and training programs administered within Research Initiatives and Services (RIS), and carry out the operational objectives of this initiative. The Hibernia and Hebron Research & Development initiative encompasses new projects in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Additive Manufacturing, Sustainability, and Subsurface Prediction. Responsibilities include ensuring the efficient and effective administration of this portfolio. As a member of the senior management group within RIS, the position will oversee the Hibernia and Hebron Research & Development initiative; manage the various sponsor relationships and grow the portfolio of individual projects; assist in leveraging the funds when appropriate; and oversee the related contract responsibilities and objectives while maintaining compliance requirements imposed by any related funding agencies or companies. Duties includeoverseeing the start-up of the initiative, and assembling the necessary administrative capacity; assisting with accessing additional leveraged funds where appropriate in line with agreement terms; growing the initiative of individual projects across multiple academic units and campuses; overseeing the administrative capture of post-award information on Memorial's research effort; ensuring that the outcome reporting, accountability and regulatory requirements of the related funding agencies and sponsors are met; encouraging effective knowledge translation; maintaining effective partnerships with key stakeholders in order to implement and oversee the ongoing effectiveness and sustainability of the initiative; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable experience (5-8 years) in a research administration environment with a proven track record across progressively responsible roles; an advanced degree, preferably a PhD, in a related scientific discipline; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The successful applicant must be a skilled administrator and effective communicator who values and inspires their team. Proven coaching and mentorship skills; ability to understand needs, and to foster partnerships across a broad stakeholder group, including investigators, faculties, graduate students, industry partners and the granting agencies; exceptional leadership, people management and administrative skills, along with well-developed problem-solving abilities are essential for this role.
