Job summaryReporting to the Supervisor, Irrigation the Technician, Irrigation is responsible for executing the daily activities within the Irrigation department at a highly productive and efficient pace to achieve the weekly objectives. This role is responsible for a variety of duties surrounding the irrigation schedules to maintain consistent plant health and product quality as instructed by leadership. Major Responsibilities/Duties: Manual watering of plants. Scouting for pests. Mixing nutrients according to guidelines/policies. Receiving nutrients as outlined in SOP. Document nutrient usage and maintenance logs. Where applicable, must adhere to Aurora’s SOPs and comply with Health Canada’s Cannabis Act. In addition, must adhere to all ISO requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Communicate with other departments to ensure timely & effective operations, including facility maintenance. Recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and productloss. Support in all areas of operating irrigation systems, including general maintenance and sanitation. Position details and activities may change from time to time in order to meet operational needs. Other duties as required.  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Mechanically inclined and able to work with tools. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Intermediate computer skills in MS Office Education & Experience: Previous experience in an agricultural or horticultural setting an assetPrevious experience in a manufacturing setting an asset Knowledge of irrigation systems and irrigation equipment is an asset. Experience using climate/irrigation control systems (Priva, Argus, or Hoogendoorn) is an asset. Working Conditions: • Temperatures range from 18 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.• Ability to work weekends, holidays and after hours as required.• Repetitive use of hands, wrists and forearms• Physical effort is required, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 55 lbs.• This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure. This role works directly with cannabis products.
