Nutritional & Eating Disorders Dietitian

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Dietitian. Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a major in dietetics/nutrition or equivalent. Knowledge of eating disorder theory, available programs and services, their interrelationships and their function in delivering care in the community. Completion of recognized dietetic internship in an accredited hospital. Eligible for membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC). Two (2) years experience in clinical dietetics and including recent related experience in nutritional counseling and eating disorders, working with youth, and in adult education. Valid BC Driver's License is required. Skills And Abilities Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients/patients and their families, members of the health care team, departmental employees, students and representatives of community agencies. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate sound judgment, good observation and assessment skills. Demonstrate tact and empathy. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to teach using adult education principles. Provide culturally sensitive care and services. Promote positive change and independence. Coordinate activities and act as liaison among medical and nursing staff, clients/patients and and/or support agencies. Organize workload, set priorities and work with minimal supervision. Foster good public relations. Physically and emotionally carry out the duties of the position. Operate related equipment, such as a personal computer and a variety of software applications.
