Coordinator / Institute Director

This role patterns their leadership after the example of Jesus Christ, strengthens those they lead, effectively administers Seminary and Institute (S&I) programs in an assigned geographic area, and builds unity with others. This is a people manager position. The coordinator should have a strong background and experience in learning, teaching, training, communication, managing resources, and helping others to grow in their performance and development. The work of a coordinator helps youth and young adults deepen their conversion to Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, qualify for the blessings of the temple, and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in Heaven.Assignment Information:Location: Office located at Langley meetinghouse, 20030 82 Ave, Langley, BC. This position is based in the Vancouver area to ensure close, consistent presence with local leaders, students, and programs. Candidates must live and work in lower mainland/Vancouver area or be willing to relocate prior to the start date. Start Date: July 2026 (posted now to allow time for relocation, if applicable) Responsibilities:Coordinates five to six (5-6) stakes in the Vancouver area. Teaches 3–4 institute classes weekly.Workinpartnershipwiththearea/regiondirector,stakepresidencies,highcouncil,stakesupervisors,wardleaders,andcalled teachers to:setgoals,makeplans,andimplementthemtoincreasethenumberofyouthandyoungadultsparticipatingin seminary and institute.Improvethelearningexperienceandassessstudentexperienceforallyouthandyoungadults(includingstudents with disabilities) enrolled in your programs.Build the capability of stake-called teachers to accomplish what is outlined in Teaching in the Savior’s Way. This mayincludemonthlydiscussions,micro-training,in-service,digitalandin-personobservation,feedback,resources, and support.Preparetheannualprogramoperatingbudget,overseefinancialperformance,andsafeguardchurchassets.AdaptS&Icurriculumandprovideapacingguideforlocalneeds.TeachS&IclassesintheSavior’swayastheassignmentrequires.Regularlyreviewandupdateaprofessionaldevelopmentplan,worktowardsaccomplishingthosegoals,andrenderan account to the area/region director.EstablishandmaintainaChristlikecultureofunity,improvement,andaccountability.Supervisetheworkofotheremployees,whichmayincludeamixedworkforceoffull-timeandpart-timeemployeesaswell as volunteers.PartnerwithHR(HumanResources)toprovidesuggestionsandrecommendationsastothehiring,advancement,promotion, or any other change of status of employees under coordinator supervision.Participateinregulartrainingopportunitiesatthegeneral/area/regionlevel.Manageprogramoperations,information,reports,andresources.Thispositionmayrequiretravel. QualificationsBachelor’sdegreeorequivalent required. Master’s degree preferred.SixyearsofS&Irelatedexperienceorequivalent.Requiresanentry-levelofunderstandingandskillsrelatedtotheprinciplesandpracticesofteaching,learning,andtraining.BecompetentintheapplicationoftheLeadershipPatternandPeopleManagementPrinciplesinS&Isettings.Requiresentry-levelinterpersonalcommunicationskills—includingverbalcommunication,activelistening,bodylanguage, openness, negotiation, decision making, and conflict resolution and mediation.Becompetentintheabilitytomanageperformanceandencouragegrowthandimprovementofothers.Becompetentintheabilitytoobserveandprovidemeaningful,clear,standards-basedfeedbackrelatedtoteaching performance and development.Requiresentrylevelskillsinexaminingdatatograspissues,drawconclusions,andsolveproblems.Competentinleadingandworkingwithcouncilstodirectthework.Capableofoverseeingfinancialprocesses,includingfollowingfinancialpolicies,establishingbudgets,andappropriately approving and monitoring financial transactions.Possessageneralunderstandingofhowtosupportstudentswithdisabilities,whichmayincludephysical,learning, behavioral, emotional, and/or mental health challenges.Abilitytoplanandmanagetime,information,reports,resources,meetings,agendas,andactionitems.AlignwiththedirectionandpoliciesoftheChurchBoardofEducationandS&Ileadership.Mustbeabletousestandardofficeequipment.MusthavecompetencyintheMicrosoftSuiteoftools.Additional employment criteriaThe S&I Coordinator/Institute Director must reside in lower mainland/Vancouver area.The candidate must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.Employment with S&I requires employees to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend and be cleared by the Ecclesiastical Clearance Office (ECO) of the Church Educational System.
