More than ever, our focus is on a sustainable PUC that is developing strategies to lower our carbon footprint, support community and economic development, and maintain exceptional customer service.  As the Engineering Technician (Electric), your duties will include: Design of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities. Design of streetlighting and fibre-optic telecommunications facilities. Prepare work orders and detail estimates. Prepare and evaluate construction tenders and perform layout and minor survey work, inspect, verify and certify contractor installations and, if necessary, authorize minor changes during construction as needed. Analyze final project costs and investigate variances. Conduct a variety of activities to maintain accurate and up-to-date records for the daily operations of the various utilities and to ensure accurate archives are maintained for future reference. Respond to customer queries or complaints and employ tact and diplomacy to resolve issues. Prepare and maintain operating records, schematics and “as-built” information. Qualifications: Sound working knowledge of engineering principles related to electrical distribution systems, streetlighting and fibre optic telecommunications networks. Basic AutoCAD and GIS skills. Strong interpretive and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license.
