ABOUT THE ROLEThe Estimator is an integral part of the electrical construction process and ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth. Innovation and an enthusiasm for challenging projects have made WPE one of British Columbia’s largest electrical contractors.We have built some of the most prominent fixtures of Vancouver and western Canada, including projects such as BC Place Arena, the Convention Centre, and the entire Skytrain System. Western Pacific Enterprises is proud of our sustainability focus, reducing our carbon footprint by operating as a completely paper-free environment and allowing employees the opportunity to be part of building something recognizable to everyone in your community.Essential FunctionsPrepare complete cost estimates for substation construction projectsUnderstand and monitor program of work to ensure estimates are completed prior to deadlinesSchedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine constructability requirementsPerform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparationCompare various project documents for accuracy and consistencyParticipate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holdersAssist construction personnel throughout the project life-cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimateAssist in the preparation and submission of change ordersFollow-up at the end of a project to close any loops in the estimating processUnderstand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable ABOUT YOUQualificationsMinimum 1 - 3 years of Estimating experienceRed Seal Electrician preferredBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a similar field or combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degreeKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesGood knowledge of local electrical codesExperience with Bluebeam Revu and Accubid Anywhere preferredAbility to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals and other relevant documentsKnowledgeable of electrical materials and methods of installationProficient with Microsoft Office applications and estimating softwareExcellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skillsTeam player mentalitySelf-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independently WHAT WE OFFERCompensation & BenefitsSalary, Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
