What is the Opportunity?Nuclear’ s portfolio of building, refurbishing, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear power facilities reflects a record of project success that ranges from small but essential maintenance contracts, to major construction endeavors. Aecon supports clients with expert project management to the most exacting standards. Working with our joint venture partner Atkins Realis, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded the definition phase contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to assist in planning the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler replacement (RFBR) project. This project involves the refurbishment of four reactors and replacement of the forty eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. Reporting to the Construction Manager and Welding Program Manager, the Welding Superintendent will assist in the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction welding activities on the RRBR site. The Welding Superintendent ensures compliance with the contract framework, cost estimates and ensures all field welding work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship. What You'll Do Here: Maintain excellent relationships with client, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and public. Interfaces with Weld Program organization daily to ensure alignment between program and construction welding initiatives are met. Responsible to ensure that all welding work is conducted in a safe manner in compliance with safety, quality, and human performance policies. Implement Joint Venture and Client policies and project procedures as required. Assist in developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules. Ensure subcontractors comply with project master schedule. Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for foreman and subcontractor use. Assist in developing recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy. Plan, supervise and approve the work of own forces and subcontractors on the project including determining methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals, and work schedules. Assume responsibility for productivity of all welding trades and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the project. Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements. Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Field Work Packages (FWPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and project schedule and budget. Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc. Ensure the work is carried out in accordance with welding QA Programs and project quality guidelines. Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, training records, T&E and rental records, manpower reports, owner support requests, FWP documents, etc. Participate in basic layout, preparation of work instructions, field engineering activities, etc. Maintain lines and levels – verify as built conditions. What You Will Bring to the Team: Education to include a technical college diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience. 10+ years in construction industry in a welding role. 5 years of experience in a supervisory position. Nuclear utility experience is considered an asset. Ability to successfully supervise a construction project. Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety requirements. Good communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential. Strong working knowledge of Nuclear Codes and Standards and CWB: ASME SEC I ASME SEC Ill, Div. 1 ASME SEC VIII, Div. 1 ASME SEC IX CSA B51 ASME B31.1 & B31.3 W47.1 and W47.2 Be a champion of inclusion and diversity. Reason for vacancy: New Pay Range: $70- $80/hr Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
