Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Manager of Patient Services, in compliance with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) standards of Nursing Practice and Clinical Oncology Nursing Certification (CONC) best practice, the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is responsible for coordination of all aspects of patient care with respect to new patient consultation with a specialist at CancerCare Manitoba. The CRN provides expertise in oncology, focusing on coordinating the team and providing the assistance and leadership to ensure that patients and family members receive quality, safe, holistic and patient-centered care. The Clinical Resource Nurse functions as a resource to the multidisciplinary health care team to assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, and spiritual responses to the disease process. The CRN provides education, orientation and training to the multidisciplinary health care team, ensure understanding and compliance with wait times definition.
The CRN will encourage participation in decision-making and self-care. The CRN works within operations of the units while being a resource to the nursing and support staff, working in collaboration with all disciplines and support staff to assist the Manager of Patient Services in the day-to-day operations of the units. The CRN works in a team environment to foster an atmosphere of respect and caring. Administrative – approximately 20 Qualifications: Required: Level of Formal Education & Experience Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
Certified in Oncology Nursing Certification (CON (C)) preferred. Minimum of three years of related experiences (specific recent experience may be required in designated areas) preferred in both clinic and treatment settings An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations Hold current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
Physical Requirements Moderate to heavy physical effort required. Flexible hours and non-conformal shift patterns may be required.
