Principal Software Developer

Position Overview We are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to help develop a world-class commercial cloud service used by construction companies to increase efficiency and reduce the significant amount of waste produced during construction. You will work in a global team and collaborate with local and remote colleagues from various disciplines like business, engineering, operations, support etc. You will work with latest technologies in a flexible environment.ResponsibilitiesInvolved with all aspects of software development. Developing with quality and running the service to create and maintain the most reliable, secure, performant and high throughput service for our customersYour main role is to contribute to a high-performing agile team that includes other strong developers and support from dedicated designers and product ownersYou will be working on projects that fill needs in pre-construction and planningYou will use the latest development tools, technologies and platforms to continually innovate and improve both software and processesMinimum QualificationsBachelor of Science or higher degree in software engineering or equivalentExperience working on agile software projects with short release cyclesSolid understanding of typical web application architecture (data, application, web tiers etc.)Experience with REST API development in a Service Oriented Architecture (microservices architecture)Strong understanding of cloud design patterns and best practices, for example circuit breaker, caching, deferred load, queuing etc.Experience with security best practices for a modern cloud serviceAbility to support the production service by periodically being on-callFamiliarity with CI/CD concepts and experience working with a deployment pipeline Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of one or more of the following JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js and ReactProficiency with Amazon Web Services or other cloud infrastructure technologiesFamiliarity with basic network infrastructure and components (load balancing, NAT, scaling, etc.) The Ideal CandidateYou are proficient in AWS cloud servicesYou are a fast learner and keen to work with latest tools and technologies availableYou are a perpetual learner and often find yourself ideating about new and improved ways of doing things and are confident to share your ideas with the rest of the engineering teamYou get work done togetherAs a team player and effective communicator, you easily build collaborative relationships with technical and non-technical colleaguesYou enjoy working with distributed team membersYou have a strong desire and ability to deliver resultsYou are able to succeed and consistently reach the highest standards in a dynamic, agile environment with changing prioritiesYou are able to work independently and manage multiple tasks with direction or feedback from stakeholders and team membersLearn MoreAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk Amazing things are created every day with our software – from the greenest buildings and cleanest cars to the smartest factories and biggest hit movies. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,500 and $180,840. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
