The technician will contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory processes.Clickhereto learn how you can build your future with IKOBenefitsCompetitive salary - $50,000-$55,000Health Insurance (includes Virtual Health, and HCSA), Dental Insurance, Vision InsuranceLife Insurance, Long-term Disability, Short-term DisabilityRRSP MatchPaid VacationFloating DaysEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee Engagement EventsAwards and RecognitionTuition reimbursementService AwardsEmployee Perks & DiscountsJob Responsibilities Safely conduct testing, analysis and reporting of asphalt roofing shingle products and raw materials.Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions for analysis according to standard procedures.Perform routine laboratory tests and experiments following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and relevant standards.Accurately record and report test results in a timely manner.Assist in inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents.Assist with organizing and tracking samples, including simple labeling and basic inventory updates.Follow all laboratory health and safety protocols and best practices and guidelines.Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of chemicals and samples in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to procedures.Document repairs, maintenance, calibration, and verification of laboratory instruments.Coordinate work to maintain efficiency and ensure timely completion of laboratory tasks.Coordinate with other technicians to complete tasks according to the planned schedule.Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.Support senior technicians and scientists in ongoing projects.QualificationsDiploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or related field.0-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting (internships or co-op placements considered).Familiar with laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and processes including the safe operation of testing equipment and adherence to lab procedures.Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.Detail oriented and maintains organizational skills to support team tasks.Demonstrates problem-solving and analytical abilities in routine tasks.Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively and efficiently with the team. Ability to occasionally lift materials between 25/50 lbs.Certified Technician (C.Tech) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is considered an asset (or eligibility).#LI-DI1Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
