We are seeking employees with a passion for public service who share our commitment to creating a complete, inclusive and livable community.The West Vancouver Parks Department is accepting applications for a temporary full-time Park Attendant for night shift watering duties. The primary duties in this position will be to water hanging baskets, planted beds, and trees. Other main duties are to pick up litter, perform general Parks maintenance; and to report leaks or concerns regarding District facilities to the District’s evening emergency dispatch number.The work for this position is considered manual work, requiring effort and stamina. The successful candidate may also be required to assist staff with horticulture tasks, turf maintenance, park construction, trails maintenance, playground maintenance, cemetery duties, and other related duties as operationally required.Applicants must have:·Familiarity with driving pickup trucks or larger vehicles (truck with hydraulics for pumping water);·Mechanical aptitude in order to do small repairs;·Ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently without direct supervision;·General knowledge concerning safe use of landscape maintenance equipment;·Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of manual outdoor work in all types of weather;·An aptitude/interest in Parks operations; and·Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC.The length of this assignment will be dependent upon operational requirements.This position is expected to be required from May through September 2026, but the length of this assignment will be dependent upon operational requirements.Successful candidates will be required to provide an acceptable driving record, a police information check, and copies of relevant credentials.
