QC Microbiologist

JOB SUMMARYQC Microbiologist conducts routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process items, and finished formulations according to standard operating procedures. Performs biochemical and/or chemical analyses to ensure stability and compliance. Compiles data for documentation of test procedures, including stability program testing and formulation studies. Calibrates and maintains lab equipment, prepares investigations, summaries, and reports, and may develop testing methods. Reviews data for compliance and reports abnormalities. Revises and updates SOPs as needed and may perform special projects related to analytical and instrument problem-solving.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products.Perform biochemical and chemical assays to ensure product stability and compliance.Compile and document data for test procedures, stability programs, and formulation studies.Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.Prepare investigations, summaries, and reports.Develop new testing methods as required.Review data for compliance with specifications and report abnormalities.Revise and update standard operating procedures.Perform special projects related to analytical and instrument troubleshooting.Plan, coordinate, and prioritize work projects with minimal direction.Contribute to development of new projects, programs, and processes.Resolve complex and unique issues; determine and modify methods and approaches.Train or mentor others as needed.Lead projects requiring organizational representation to internal/external stakeholders.Provide expertise and promote solutions; act as an internal resource for consultation.Required QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent.Typically at least 4+ years of relevant experience for entry into this level.Strong technical knowledge and ability to apply it to diverse assignments.Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.Experience in planning and coordinating projects.Skilled in analytical and problem-solving techniques.Preferred QualificationsPost-graduate certification and/or license may be required.Demonstrated thought leadership and ability to consult internally on area of specialization.
