Our Strength is People." is a true expression of our belief that our people are our competitive advantage.    ArcelorMittal Dofasco Global Research and Development Department Researcher – Data Science (Permanent Position)     The ArcelorMittal Dofasco research lab features diverse analytical and process simulation equipment. It is part of a global R&D network with roughly 1, researchers in 14 labs across Europe and the Americas. The lab leads technical efforts in process improvement and product development for the Hamilton plant and global operations.   Primary Function We are seeking a Data Scientist with expertise in probabilistic modeling, intelligent simulations, predictive maintenance, and machine learning. In this role, you will design and implement advanced analytics solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency, predict equipment failures, and support our digitalization initiatives.   Source of Supervision Porgramme Leader, Welding and Digitalization   Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough analysis of large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and correlations aimed at enhancing products and processes.   Developing or assisting in the development of process and product solutions through advanced data analysis or machine learning and predictive maintenance (PdM) models to forecast equipment failures. Assist in the acquisition, compilation, validation, and analysis of data sets from multiple sources throughout the manufacturing plant or the research lab. Contribute to LLM-related projects (nice to have) and collaborate on application development around LLMs. Educate other Researchers on the available tools for data analytics, advanced modeling, and digitalization, and promote their use in future efforts. Remain current with advancements in data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methodologies. Investigate emerging digitalization technologies for potential profitable implementation in manufacturing or R&D settings. Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders and decision-makers. Communicate project results through comprehensive reports, presentations, and publications. Engage with ArcelorMittal Dofasco plant personnel, project leaders, and members of the ArcelorMittal Global R&D team.   Qualifications or in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or a related quantitative field Preferred: Background with industrial/manufacturing data (especially metallurgy or steel) Proven skills in: Machine learning (regression, classification, clustering, time series) Predictive analytics and probabilistic modeling Data engineering Statistical analysis (DOE, data analysis, model development) Programming (Python, R, SQL) Strong Python skills; fluency with leading ML/AI frameworks ( , scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) Proficient in SQL and experienced with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) Quick learner and able to train others Effective team player, able to lead technical analysis, and take direction on business/process aspects Able to work independently with minimal supervision and resolve ambiguity Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills    Total Rewards at ArcelorMittal Dofasco   We value you, and your contributions to our mutual success.
