IT Enterprise Architect/Strategist-Intermediate

We are seeking an Intermediate IT Enterprise / Strategic Architect to lead a comprehensive enterprise architecture assessment across client ministry portfolios. This role is crucial for developing a target state architecture roadmap and aligning application assets with strategic objectives. The successful candidate must possess strong expertise in Enterprise Architecture (EA) Frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman), Portfolio Analysis, and Emerging Technologies (AI/ML). Key responsibilities include conducting gap analyses, defining conceptual future states, and supporting the development of business cases. This is a fully Onsite position based in Toronto, Ontario.Advantages- Strategic Influence: Directly influence ministry-level strategy by leading portfolio assessments and defining the future state architecture, including AI integration.- EA Framework Focus: Utilize and apply mandatory knowledge of TOGAF and Zachman frameworks.- Emerging Tech Exposure: Focus on integrating AI/ML strategies for high-impact use cases like fraud detection.- Onsite Collaboration: Fully onsite role in Toronto, facilitating close, continuous collaboration with leadership and governance committees.ResponsibilitiesThe IT Enterprise / Strategic Architect will be responsible for:- Architecture Assessment & Analysis: Leading the overall enterprise architecture assessment for client ministry portfolios. Gathering existing documentation (strategic plans, technology roadmaps) and analyzing the current state of application assets, focusing on core capability, current health, technology risks, and alignment to target state.- Stakeholder Engagement: Conducting interviews and workshops with key stakeholders to elicit requirements and facilitate alignment.- Current vs. Target State Mapping: Mapping current state architecture against target state architecture. Assessing the portfolio of opportunities and gaps at both program and ministry levels and developing the conceptual architecture of a future to-be state.- Strategic Recommendation: Recommending strategies for integrating emerging technologies, including AI for fraud detection. Recommending priorities for the future to-be state based on risk and potential impacts.- Roadmap & Planning: Developing a target state alignment plan and assisting in the development of business cases for target state plans.- Governance & Reporting: Presenting insights to leadership and architecture governance committees. Leading the development of a repeatable pattern for iterative assessments, gap analysis, and recommendations.- Knowledge Transfer: Providing effective knowledge transfer, coaching, and mentoring to Ministry staff at all stages of the assignment.QualificationsMust-Have Experience:- Knowledge of EA Frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) – Demonstrated ability to structure architecture analysis and design.- Portfolio Analysis Skills – Ability to assess application assets for health, risk, and alignment.- Emerging Technologies – Understanding of AI/ML concepts and integration strategies.- Business Case Development – Ability to support strategic planning and investment decisions.- Stakeholder Engagement – Strong facilitation skills for workshops and interviews.- Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments.- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI).Desired Skills (Assets):- Proficiency in architecture modeling tools (i.e., PowerDesigner, Visio).- Knowledge of Governance Processes and Architecture Governance Committees.- Understanding of agile methodologies for planning deliverables.SummaryIf you're interested in the IT Enterprise Architect/Strategist - Intermediate role based in Toronto, Ontario, we encourage you to apply online at www.randstad.ca.
