Summer Student - By-Law Enforcement Officer Enhance your post-secondary studies in Law Enforcement with practical experience as a Seasonal By-Law Enforcement Officer for the Town of Tillsonburg. Reporting to the By-Law Enforcement Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to By-Law, conducting parking enforcement and gaining compliance with the Town By-Laws through education and enforcement action when required. The Seasonal By-Law Enforcement Officer will be a temporary full-time position between the months of May and September. This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined benefit pension plan. Department: Development and Operations Division : Building & By-Law Reports To : By-Law Enforcement Supervisor Contract: May 4, 2026 to August 28, 2026 Hourly Rate: $19.12/hour (2025 rates) Weekly Hours: 40 (must be willing to work days, afternoons & weekends) Vacancy: 2 (new) Criminal Record Check required for this position. Interested candidates please apply prior to the end of day on Sunday, January 25th, 2026. Responsibilities Responding in a timely fashion to residents’ concerns and inquiries. Investigating and documenting all concerns. Regular enforcement of the Town Parking By-Laws. Park enforcement and bike patrols. Attended court when necessary to provide evidence relating to charges laid including parking infractions. By-law administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. Qualifications Successfully completed or currently enrolled in Law & Security, Police Foundations or another related training course. Excellent oral/written communication skills with the ability to de-escalate conflict situations. The ability to exercise discretion and to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidates with training from the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association (MLEOA) or the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officer’s would be an asset.
