Unit SummaryThe Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated jointly by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Hospital. The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research, to bring the highest quality science into healthcare for the benefit of the community and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science.Position SummaryThe Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for: the receipt, sorting and labeling of microbiology specimens; computing data entry of patient and test information; processing and culture of microbiology specimens; preparation and staining of smears; sample separation and preparation; and preparation of laboratory supplies and reagents. Schedule Work Hoursdays, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, holidaysQualifications1. Certified as a Medical Laboratory Assistant with MLPAO2. 6-12 months practical experience in a clinical laboratory3.
