As our growth creates new career opportunities, likely there is the right one for you About the Role Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is seeking a Ready-Mix Truck Driver in Nelson, BC (West Kootenays).Main Responsibilities Must be able to safely operate a Ready Mix Truck. Complete driving assignments in a timely and safe manner. The applicant must be able to lift and move product sometimes involving strenuous labour. Ability to work extended hours & irregular days with irregular breaks. Will be required to maintain necessary logs, driving records and DOT certifications. Complete daily pre and post trip inspections of vehicle. Complete adhoc tasks assigned by supervisor. Perform a variety of tasks as needed or required when not delivering concrete. Must be willing to travel and work out town occasionally when required or necessary. Requirements Have at a minimum an active Class 3 license (preference to Class 1) Pass a MVR and a Drug Test Experience operating a Ready Mix Truck or Gravel Truck in construction areas is preferred, but not required. Ability to perform manual labor. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Working Conditions Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required. Willing to work in field and in all weather conditions. Willing to work overtime (may include weekends) during the busy season (April to October) and on call as necessary. Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis. This is a safety sensitive position; selected candidate must pass drug and alcohol testing as required Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Compensation Data This is a unionized position. During the three-month probationary period, the hourly wage is 85% of the standard rate, which equates to $31.02/hour. Upon successful completion of probation, the wage increases to the full rate of $36.49/hour.
