Apply today to join our teamAs a Social Work Unit Educator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:Work in a team-based environment and is charged with providing discipline specific clinical support, training and education to designated staff for the designated program area a majority of the time.Plan, implement, and evaluate site educational programs to support access and flow and meet the needs of the clinicians and site.Provide training and at the elbow support; provides education on applicable legislation and its application, therapeutic approaches and discharge planning processes.As a Designated Responder Coordinator, provide clinical support, guidance, direction and education, and ensures Designated Authority of statutory obligations are met per Adult Guardianship Act.Work under the direction of the Manager and/or Clinical Operations Supervisor to set the priorities of the designated program.Collaborate with the Regional Clinical Education team, Regional Educator for Social Work, and other educators across VCH to ensure alignment of best practices for educational theory and remain connected with developing best practices in the profession. Collaborates with the Professional Practice and Clinical Education team to ensure awareness of best practice evidence and newly emerging practices and engage with subject matter experts as appropriate.Maintain and update own knowledge of clinical and professional practice, including clinical competencies by working directly with patients, clients, residents. Qualifications Education & ExperienceMaster’s Degree in Social Work, five (5) years' recent, related social work experience in the designated practice area.Completion of a professional instructional program for teaching.Experience creating educational materials, implementing education strategies, utilizing knowledge translation abilities, and experience mentoring students, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.Knowledge & AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care.Comprehensive knowledge of Social Work theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.Broad knowledge of the established provincial standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.Extensive knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures as it relates to the rights of patients and obligations of staff.Extensive knowledge and demonstrated application of the ethical decision making framework.Broad knowledge of Adult education theory, and recognized experience with curriculum and instructional design principles and practices.Broad knowledge of tele-health and technology-based learning.Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to develop and construct effective and dynamic education modules.Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, facilitate and teach.Demonstrated ability in education strategies.Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of enquiry and evidence-based practice.Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing and deal effectively with, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, patients and their circle of care, and outside agencies.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Computer literacy related to tele-health and technology-based learning; and with spreadsheet and database skills.Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
