This is a full-time, permanent role based at the Vancity head office and will report directly to the Manager, Data Engineering.
Our head office is based in Vancouver, but we are open to candidates in BC and Ontario. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands when needed. How You’ll Make an Impact: Designing and building efficient and reliable data pipelines, cleansing and normalizing diverse datasets for analytics Troubleshooting and resolving problems in data services that support business and application systems, providing solutions to proactively prevent issues Creating and managing knowledge bases, access controls, deployment pipeline architecture and infrastructure related to the Data Platform Driving transformation by continuously automating existing processes, optimizing for efficiency and data quality, and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability Representing the team as a subject matter expert for strategic projects and contributing to end-to-end data architecture solutions What You’ll Bring to the Team: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline 3+ years of industry experience in Data Engineering or related field handling data processing and transformation of disparate datasets Experience with big data and analytics programming languages such as Python, R, Spark in Databricks Experience with batch and real-time processing frameworks (EventHub, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, etc.) Strong ability to innovate and adapt to emerging technologies Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and EventHub Exposure to DevSecOps practices and security-first principles Understanding of data storage, mapping, modeling, and real-time data handling You’ll Thrive Here If You Are: Customer-centric – You anticipate and respond to evolving internal customer needs Results-oriented – You deliver solutions that meet business objectives and stakeholder expectations Technology-savvy – You embrace new tools and approaches to enhance data capabilities Curious and innovative – You seek opportunities to improve processes and drive transformation We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity.
