Job Profile   Under the general supervision of the Administrative Coordinator, Business Office, the Recreation Technician E primarily supports the provision of recreation services available for a cross section of the community. The position oversees divisional communication planning and implementation, as well as contributing to other Business Office services to the division.The position assists the Administrative Coordinator with recreation related planning proposals, program development and scheduling. This position assists the Coordinators in the Business Office in defining program options by liaising within Recreation Services, the Community Services Department and community e.g. other Recreation Technicians, Pool Supervisors and Head Instructor Guards, CMS-OOD, CMS-Finance, PW-POS, 311, media, and other groups and organizations to assist in identifying divisional communication and resourcing needs, and to promote the division’s programs and services.This position supports the Business and Customer Support Coordinator with Leisure Guide production tasks such as monitoring activity building, proofing and editing, and change management, ensures program evaluations are reviewed after each session, and supports the City-Wide Clerk hour selection process by distributing process information, updating schedules, compiling vacant shift schedules, collecting and distributing sparing data.This position will assist with Arenas and Centralized Reservations to facilitate facility bookings, perform administrative tasks which may include review of webpage content for accuracy, track and report on attendance, collect fees, and maintain other records.The position provides assistance to the Recreation Coordinator in planning, research and execution of Recreation Services fitness equipment replacement and safety and accessibility capital procurement. Provides input to the Administrative Coordinator in researching community needs and new program trends and the preparation of leisure awareness materials.As the Recreation Technician E, your duties will include: Plan and schedule the delivery of recreation programs and services. Coordinate the selection, scheduling, and training and support evaluation of related staff. In accordance with City and Departmental policies and guidelines, maintain financial and other information related to programs. Assist in the development/maintenance of operational program and other data in systems. Perform other duties associated with the position.Your education and qualifications include: Grade 12 or equivalent AND A Degree or Diploma in Recreation/Leisure Services, Community Development, Business Administration or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Minimum 3 years of work experience related to recreational programming. Must have relevant supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge of recreation and delivery of leisure services philosophy. Demonstrated experience in administration, scheduling and coordinating recreation activities/programs and staff normally acquired at a junior classification. Ability to use a computer, maintain databases, input and generate reports and maintain clear records.(i.e. computerized registration system etc.) Working knowledge of recreation equipment and general knowledge of facility maintenance and operations. Demonstrated knowledge of requirements to provide a safe environment for public and staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English – oral and written. Ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset. Demonstrated effective communication skills both oral and written in dealing with all levels of staff, community, media and the public in a respectful manner. Ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships. Ability to make presentations for training purposes and lead staff meetings. Must be willing to attend/complete job specific training required for this position as directed.
